December 31, 2016 – January 1, 2017
Nanowrimo manuscript slips in and out of my fingers. I split my time with reading and writing through December. Three excellent recommendations kept my nose in a book every free moment through the holidays—heaven. Project-N brought some interruptions, but they were positive.
The moment you hear that someone is gone and your heart feels something you can’t explain. I read a post from Sean Lennon in memory of Carrie Fisher—his love and raw pain demonstrated the value of friendships that carry through thick and then. Find good friends, hold them tight, and love them fervently.
Superhero started holiday celebration early by taking me to the movies. It was a gift because it was a movie I wanted to see, but not so much Superhero’s thing. We have movies we both enjoy and then we have our separate things. This was one of those and it meant the world to me. It’s a true gift because it was a sacrifice of time to do something I really wanted to do when we had many things pressing on our schedule. I’m happy to say we managed to get everything else accomplished including the construction of all gingerbread houses so we could decorate them when our Golden Egg came home for the holiday.
That was the surprise for them. Superhero and I spent the better part of our Saturday making the gingerbread, rolling the dough, and cutting out the walls and windows. Then we took another night to put them together. Christmas eve we relaxed, and sugar rushed our way to Christmas—one gumdrop for the house, one gumdrop for me, one . . .
Christmas eve turned into Christmas and we played games, snacked too much, and shared gifts with loved ones.
Each gift seemed tailored and spot on to me because you just can’t go wrong with E=mc. I didn’t forget that the c must be squared, but the light in my heart says it’s going nowhere. So, weave paths together as many have done from Isaac to Rowling no single path shun, but learn from them all and craft what you will because we’re in this together and pushing uphill.
The bad jokes my family puts up with when I create on the fly—my Christmas luck: Einstein stopped by to ask me to dinner, and I was out with a Bohr (laugh). I have to post this because every time I read it I remember the eye rolls and grins. Hahaha!
On a more serious note, handcrafted gifts defined this Christmas and it fits with the transition to 2017.
What is your skill? What can you do with your hands, your heart . . .
That is my thought as I go into this new year. Happy New Year!
